We have lived in
Benedicta (actually T2R6) since 1978. At that time we
were the first people "from away" (we moved
from West Sebois) to live in Benedicta. Back then my
wife and I both worked at the Great Northern mill in
Millinocket, and since there was no Benedicta exit off
Interstate 95 we car pooled from the Texaco (now the
Irving) station at
Sherman Mills.
Because of this, and since so many of our fellow workers at the mill were from Millinocket, East Millinocket, Benedicta, Sherman Mills, Stacyville, Grindstone, Medway, Patten, Island Falls, Oakfield and Lincoln we have developed many friendships in the Katahdin Valley over the years. When we were looking for a Boy Scout troop for our youngest son in the late 2000's, we settled on Troop 202 in Island Falls, where I was on the troop committee up until he became an Eagle Scout in 2010.
